Supporting both ends of the leash

Bishop's Mission is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing K9 wellness, resilience, education, and peer support resources for first responders, veterans, and the dogs who support them.

A strong mission requires a strong team—on both ends of the leash.

Why we exist

First responders and veterans often rely on dogs for emotional support , resilience, connection and recovery.

Yet while we talk about responder wellness, we rarely talk about the wellness of the dogs supporting those who serve.

At Bishop’s Mission, we believe supporting the dogs is part of supporting the person.

That's why we focus on supporting both ends of the leash through K9 wellness, resilience, education, and peer support.

Get Involved

Supporting Bishop’s Mission means standing alongside first responders, veterans and the support K9s who work beside them. Individuals, businesses, and organizations can get involved by volunteering their time, making tax-deductible donations, or becoming a sponsor to directly support on-call peer support services, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and ASAP response efforts, and continuation of care for service dogs and department support K9s. Every contribution—whether time, resources, or financial support—helps ensure timely peer support after critical incidents and that K9 programs are sustained well beyond initial startup.

Summers can be dangerous for dogs.

Hot pavement can cause painful paw burns in seconds, and heat-related emergencies can quickly become life-threatening. Every year, dogs suffer preventable injuries simply because their handlers are unaware of the risks or lack access to protective equipment and educational resources.

To help address this growing concern, Bishop's Mission launched the Summer Safety Campaign.

Our goal is simple:

🐾 Prevent heat injuries

🐾 Prevent paw burns

🐾 Educate handlers and pet owners

🐾 Provide safety resources

🐾 Promote K9 wellness and preparedness

Throughout the summer, Bishop's Mission is providing education, outreach, and resources designed to help keep dogs safe during summer’s hottest months.
